You are also  invited to visit Criminal Justice Ministry’s website for additional information, programs, events, links to resources, and volunteer opportunities.

Direct Services

Many men and women are released from prison without the most basic necessities. We provide “Welcome Backpacks” stuffed with personal items like soap, toothpaste, socks and clothing items. We can also provide bus tickets/passes to gain employment. Once we address their immediate needs, we can refer the clients to other re-entry services as needed. For more information, contact Neetia Fugate at neetiaf@svdpstl.org.

Vital Papers

Many recently released prisoners do not have the necessary documents for validating their identification for employment and reentry into the community Our vital paper service helps them obtain these documents. Our staff guides them throughout the application process and pays for duplication to eliminate any barriers to receiving this important paperwork. This program also pays for GED applications. We also refer them to other re-entry services as needed. For more information, contact Erin Kastin at erink@svdpstl.org.

Release to Rent

Release to Rent is a structured housing program for returning prisoners. A coordinator and case manager assist ex-prisoners find and furnish suitable accommodation. They also help them find suitable employment and other services. The odds are stacked against men and women returning home from prison. Thanks to Release to Rent, there is less than 10% recidivism for those who complete the program. For more information, contact Heidi Moore at heidim@svdpstl.org.
