Crisis Intervention
Legal Counseling Program
Imagine facing a legal challenge with no resources. Where do you turn? Thanks to our legal counseling program, our clients have access to volunteer attorneys. The clinics are held every Friday afternoon from 2 to 4:30 pm in the Council offices. Our volunteer attorneys offer one-on-one legal advice or help finding other Pro bono assistance as needed. This program is available to all 8 Districts. For more information call Steve Rupp at 314-881-6018.
Utility Assistance Program
Through a series of grants the Council office can assist conferences with clients who have amassed large utility bills. The major funding sources are:
- Heat Up St. Louis
- Cool Down St. Louis
- EFS (FEMA – Emergency Food and Shelter)
- Dollar More
Please note that every funding source has strict guidelines and boundaries. For more info call Tim Massey at 314-881-6028.
Lunch Program
From Monday through Friday each week, the Council office provides sandwiches and a drink to anybody needing a lunch. We are currently providing nearly 1600 lunches every month. These sandwiches are made by different area conferences and groups through the metro St. Louis area.
Fire Victims Program
Referrals on behalf of fire victims are usually made through the American Red Cross. We assist with furniture, clothing, food, utilities and other financial assistance. This program is possible through the generosity of one of our conferences.
